Originally from Ohio, Philip Evancho is the founder of Craven Community Chorus, which he established in 1985 with the vision of creating an inclusive, vibrant community centered around choral music. Under his leadership, the choir has grown into a cherished musical home for singers of all backgrounds and abilities.
Philip’s musical journey began at the Boston Conservatory at Berklee and Baldwin Wallace University, culminating in a Master’s degree in Music Performance from the University of Akron. His diverse training and deep-rooted passion for choral music have shaped the choir’s signature sound: expressive, dynamic, and deeply connected to both the music and the audience.
With decades of conducting experience and a heart for community building, Philip continues to inspire through his thoughtful programming, high musical standards, and unwavering commitment to the joy of group singing.
